Edward Joseph Sheridan Obituary
We announce the death of Edward Joseph Sheridan (Hickory, North Carolina), who passed away on October 18, 2026, at the age of 89. Edward will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Sheridan and Christina Sheridan (Mangan); his brother John; and his sister-in-law Maureen Sheridan. He is survived by: his nieces, Cathy Sheridan of Clifton Park and Patricia Sheridan (Rummikub); his great-niece Kaitlin Montanaro; his great-nephews, Nick Montanaro (Madison) and Anthony Montanaro (Joycelynn); his nephew John Sheridan (Maryellen); his great-nieces, Grace and Olivia; and his great-nephew Ian. He is also survived by two great-grand-nieces and a great-grand-nephew.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church (921 2nd St NE, Hickory, NC 28601). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. Even in retirement, "Father Ed" never stopped bringing the love of Christ to people – ministering to the sick at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, filling in at weekend Masses, and even offering "Mass in the Grass" outside his home during the Covid-19 pandemic when churches were closed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Catholic education scholarship that Father Sheridan established in honor of his parents: the Sheridan Mangan Endowment Fund, c/o Diocese of Charlotte Foundation, 1123 S.
