He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Powell and Mary Watts Powell; his siblings, Hubert Powell, Robert Junior Powell, Alice Fulbright, Nancy Wilkie and Linda Moretz; and his sister-in-law Mary Ann Reid (Penny).
He is survived by: his wife Violet Propst Powell; his son Ernie Powell, Jr. of Hickory; and his brother-in-law Glenn Propst. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Oakwood Cemetery (366 4th St NW, Hickory, NC 28601).
