He was predeceased by: his parents, Annie Helms and Spurgin Everett Stewart; and his brother Bob Stewart. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Burns Stewart; his sons, James Stewart and Gary Stewart; his stepchildren, Terry Lowman (Tamatha), Cynthia Maynor, Darrell Lowman (Debi) and Dawn Alvarez (Jesse); and his siblings, Rosie Smith, Nancy Witherspoon, Irene Davis, Dale Stewart, Johnny Stewart, Tex Stewart, Linda Lovelace, Margaret Herman and Tommy Stewart. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Winkler's Grove Baptist Church Seniors, 3320 9th Ave. Dr., NW, Hickory, NC 28601.
