Gabriel Michael Barger Obituary

Gabriel "Gabe" Michael Barger, 23, of Hickory, passed away December 5, 2024 at Sherrills Ford Hospice.

Born November 11, 2001 in Hollywood, Fl, he was the son of Alisha Barger.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sharon M. Barger.

Gabe enjoyed basketball, the beach, on-line gaming, playing cards and spending time with his little brother, Jayden.

He was a soft spoken, big hearted young man who was smart, sweet and very giving. His smile and beautiful eyes showed insight to his kindness and sweet spirit. He was a hard worker who often asked for overtime after working a 12 hr shift.

He fought hard to the end to overcome overwhelming odds. This bright young man's life was cut way too short. He will be sadly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Alisha Barger of Hickory; grandfather, Michael Edward Barger of Hickory; brother, Jayden Barger of Granite Falls; uncle, Devin Barger (Morgan) of Charlotte and their daughter, Kennedy; cousins, Hailey Barger of Granite Falls, Joe Fritz of Hickory, Michael Fritz (Katie) of Wilmington; great aunts, Cathy Smith of Hickory, Shirley Ledford (Jim) of Hickory, Judy Hoke (Glenn) of Hickory and many relatives in Florida.

A celebration of Gabe's life will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM, Saturday, December 14, 2024 in the Jack Bass Memorial Building at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.
