He was predeceased by: his parents, James Monroe Miller and Edith Hedrick Miller; his wife Dorothy Ruth Lanier Miller; and his siblings, Ray Miller, Glenn Miller, Max Miller, Bill Miller, Charles Miller and Faye Braswell.

He is survived by: his children, Teresa Killian (Rick) of Hickory, Patrick Miller of Newton and Jonathan Miller (Karissa) of Bethlehem; his grandchildren, Amy Killian, Justin Killian (Tara) and Logan Miller (Hannah); his great grandchildren, Jordan Killian, Emory Killian and Ashton Killian; his siblings, Kathleen Hollar and Tommy Miller (Cathy); and his caregivers, Brittany, Sarah and Nina.
