He was predeceased by: his father Phillip Mitchell; and his sons, Dennis Alvin Mitchell and Mario Anthony Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Bernice Johnson Mitchell; and his children, Herbert Allen Mitchell Jr. (Dana) of Hickory, Patricia Mitchell of Lawrenceville and Regina Mitchell Taylor (Terry) of Gastonia. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
