He was predeceased by: his parents, Clinton Ray and Metta Lucille Summers Punch; his siblings, Frances Crouse (Jay), Margaret Cuthrell (Gene), Bonnie Simmons (Claude) and Thomas Punch (Kathleen); and also, Carl Golden, Tommy Punch, Jr. and Steve Punch.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Punch; his children, Lynn Punch Ellis (Tony) and Earnest Ray Punch (Irene); and his grandchildren, Angie Spivey (Archie), Brandy Berry Milazzo and Brad Punch (Andrea). He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring in Herbert's name.
