James Lee Totty Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Lee Totty of Hickory, North Carolina, who passed away on August 1, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Louise Liles Totty and Willie Lee Totty; and his wife Barbara Jean Belk Totty. He is survived by: his sons, James Totty Jr. (Monica) and William Coleman Totty (Bill); his grandchildren, James Lee Totty III, Kara Totty and David Totty; his great grandchild Carlie Hicks; his siblings, William Stewart Totty (Mary) and Mary Ann Totty; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Belk Starnes (Dale), Mary Elizabeth Long and Sue Ellen Lampley (Sid). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church - Hickory (339 2nd Ave NW, Hickory, NC 28601). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
