He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Charles and Mary Lowe Watson. He is survived by: his children, Nicole Bundens (Jeff) of Jonesborough, TN and James Matthews Jr. (Brook) of Taylorsville; his sisters, Linda Love of Hickory and Mickey Hicks (Lewis) of Hickory; and his grandsons, James Matthews III and William Matthews.
