She was predeceased by: her parents, Everette Preston Huffman and Carrie Walker Huffman; her husband Jerry Whitener; her son Jamie Whitener; and her brothers, E. P. Huffman Jr., Emmett Huffman, Kermit Huffman, Wilburn Huffman, Johnny Huffman, Bruce Huffman, James Delmar Huffman and Dennis Huffman.
She is survived by: her daughter-in-law Dianne Whitener; her grandsons, Christopher Whitener (Jo), Braxton Whitener and Adam Whitener (Madison); her great grandchildren, Kaleb, Alex, Nathaniel, Bailee, Ryan and Savannah; her pet Peeper the cat; and her special friend Bob Baker.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (1911 Zion Church Rd, Hickory, NC 28602). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Carolina Caring on Robinson Rd, Newton, NC.
