It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerald Vernon Settlemyre of Hickory, North Carolina, who passed away on February 26, 2026, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Vernon Settlemyre and Florence Settlemyre (Wilson); his wife Diane Settlemyre (Fincannon); and his sisters, Gloria Helms (Settlemyre) and Janette Davis (Settlemyre).

He is survived by: his sons, Brad Settlemyre (Ann) of Lenoir and Todd Settlemyre (Donna) of Mableton, Georgia; his siblings, Richard Settlemyre of Newton and Janie Beard (Settlemyre) of Maiden; and his grandchildren, Katie, Scott and Emma. He is also survived by extended family members and many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Miller's Lutheran Church in Hickory, North Carolina, in Jerry's memory.
