With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joe Lawrence Simmons (Hickory, North Carolina), who passed away on December 14, 2025 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Simmons and LenaBelle Cline Simmons; his wife Barbara Simmons; his siblings, Jeff Simmons, Patsy Sigmon, Nancy Goforth, Hilda Seter and Linda Seagle; and his children-in-law, Harvey Teague, Allen McKinley and Cindy Turner Simmons.
He is survived by: his children, Joey Lawrence Simmons Jr. (Martha), Cindy McKinley, Connie Simmons, Tim Simmons (Wendy) and Susanna Teague; his siblings, Dean Simmons, Lee Simmons, Michael Simmons, Melissa Ritchie (Johnny) and Deborah Coffey (Bruce); and his grandchildren, Kevin, Michelle, Brian, Carrie, Brandon, Brandley and JoAnna.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Shiloh Lutheran Church (1011 Shiloh Church Rd, Hickory, NC 28601). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 20th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
