She was predeceased by: her husband Lewis Carroll Blackwood; her parents, Benjamin Reid Daves, Sr. and Violet Adele Beach Daves; her siblings, Benjamin Reid Daves, Jr. (Johnsie) and Brenda Daves Berry; her nephew Jerry Scott Daves; her daughter-in-law Vickie Smith; and her stepson Dale Lewis Blackwood.
She is survived by: her brother Jerry Daves (Gail) of Mocksville; her sons, Dr. Lawrence Berkley Smith, Jr. (Berk) and Kevin William Smith of Hickory; her grandchildren, Adrienne Hadleigh Smith and Kaitlin Ashleigh Elise Smith of Asheville; and her son Dylan Berkley Smith of Boone.
In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Humane Society of Catawba County.
