She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Lutz and Viola Lutz; her husband Sherman Carpenter; and her siblings, Josephine Icard, Shirley Matthews, Janette Lail, Jack Lutz and Bill Lutz.

She is survived by: her sons, Scott Carpenter (Apryl) and Kevin Carpenter (Lynne); and her grandchildren, Ryan Carpenter (Asheville), Dalton Carpenter (Conover), Keeley Carpenter (Wilmington) and David Carpenter (Conover). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church and School.
