She was predeceased by : her parents, Dolph Ned Lyons, Sr. and Edna Grace Moretz Lyons; her husband Joseph W. McConnell; her daughter Kimberly Ann McConnell; her great grandchildren, Hunter Matthew McConnell and Emmalee Helen Arnold; and her siblings, Leatrice L. Norris and D. Ned Lyons, Jr..

She is survived by : her children, Joetta M. Stansberry of Butler, TN, Kela M. Holsclaw (Kevin) of Hickory, NC and Timothy A. McConnell of Hickory, NC; her grandchildren, David M. McConnell (Tammy) of Claremont, NC, Christopher J. M. McConnell (CJ) of Hickory, NC, Travis H. Holsclaw of Hickory, NC, Delaina S. Arnold (Brian) of Mountain City, TN, Julie M. Stansberry (Ian) of Hickory, NC, Meghan M. Pettry (Simon) of Post Falls, ID, Sara M. L. McConnell (Anthony) of Conover, NC and Samantha P. Holsclaw (Don) of Conover, NC; her great grandchildren, Warren, Samuel, Josiah, Makenzie, Kylie, Lilliana, Layla, Eliana, Ariana, Akasha and Eryn; and her siblings, Archie D. Lyons of Blowing Rock, NC and Lynda E. Lyons (Phil) of Keystone Heights, FL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Village at 1265 21st Street NE, Hickory NC 28601 in Lillie's name.

Iris Bolick wrote a sympathy message

“There are many memories of Lillie and Me, as children in Boone, NC. Born the same month, we were more like twins in the Boone community. Many townsfolk thought we were. Always together, in constant mischief. Her mother, Aunt Grace Lyons, and our Aunt Maggie Moretz sang in the choir at Grace Lutheran Church, my mother, Virginia Moretz Bolick, played the organ. Our Grandmother, Florence Moretz, sat between Lillie and me to keep us from whispering and giggling. I love her. Iris Bolick Sechriest.”
