It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Elen Pfau Smith of Hickory, North Carolina, who passed away on February 1, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Pfau and Ruth Pfau (Collins); and her brother Alfred, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Tim (Lisa), Julie Ostrander (Randy) and Steve (Jenny); her grandchildren, Austen, Evan Smith, Mareda Lewer, Angela Ochsner, Jessica, Carrie, Randy Ostrander, Jr., Connor, Landen, Aidan, Grayson and Regan Smith; her niece Brenda Dunham; and her nephew Alan Pfau. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
