She was predeceased by: her parents, John Riggs and Charlotte Triplett Riggs; her husband Dr. Harry Hickman; her grandson Julian Alexander Hickman; and her siblings, Z. O., Ned, John, Bill, Bass Riggs, Gwen Frye, Sabra Melton and Peggy Wilson.
She is survived by: her children, Jackie Sloop, Stuart Hickman (Rita) and Maria Moore (Danny); her stepdaughters, Beth Hage, Claudia Greene (John) and Melinda Massi (Joseph); and her grandchildren, Tom Sloop (Brittany), Knox Sloop, Stuart Nathaniel Hickman (Jennifer), Adam Hickman (Kaitlyn), Benjamin Hickman (Amanda), Ian Moore, Deborah Hage, Cathrine Hage McDaniel, Jeremy Greene, Joshua Greene (Rashell), Jonathan Greene (Carol) and Alex Massi (Emily). She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Blue Ridge Memorial Park (2017 Wilkesboro Blvd, Lenoir, NC 28645). A reception will be held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Evans Funeral Service & Crematory (1070 Taylorsville Rd SE, Lenoir, NC 28645).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Carolina Caring, or the Children's Charity of your choice.
