With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Matthew Joseph Newton of Hickory, North Carolina, born in Catawba, North Carolina, who passed away on May 18, 2022 at the age of 40. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Johnny Lester Newton, Jr.. He is survived by: his mother Elisabeth Bass Newton of Hickory; his daughter Abby Newton of Hickory; and his siblings, Michael Newton of Emerald Isle, NC, Margaret Willis of Hickory, Melissa Botts (Tom) of Cramerton, NC and Mary Black (Jared) of Greensboro Numerous. He is also survived by Numerous nieces and nephews.
