He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Leonard Henshaw Childers and Zona Katherine Fulbright; his spouse Jackie Locke; his daughters, Melissa Gibson (Noah) and Melanie Rooks (Keith); his grandchildren, Madi Griffin (Foster) and Nick Reese (Jessica); his great grandchildren, Liam and Eden Reese; and his brother Nathan Childers (Terri).

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bethany Lutheran Church.
