He was predeceased by: his parents, Morris Wilson Auton and Grace Mae Frye Auten; and his sister Jean Auten Barbee. He is survived by: his wife Joan Crisco Auten; his children, Karen Auton (Byron) and Charles "Chuck" Auten (Sandy); his grandchildren, Grace Teasdall (Andy), Emily Butler (Will), Sarah Auton, Benjamin Auten, Jacob Auten and Matthew Auten; and his great grandchildren, Ellie, Mae and Quinn.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Corinth Reformed Church (150 16th Ave NW, Hickory, NC 28601).
