She was predeceased by: her parents, Harlan "Jack" Pope and Annie Wilfong Pope; and her grandparents, Claude and Orabelle Wilfong. She is survived by: her siblings, Beverly Chapman (Ronald) of Hickory and Gil Gilleland (Tracye) of Catawba; her children, Martha Setzer Rice (Randy) of Hickory and David Setzer (Dale) of Apex; her grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Rice Cardwell (Chris) of Granite Falls, Emily Rice Parrish (Elliot) of Matthews, Annie Rice of Hickory and Robert Setzer of Apex; her great grandchildren, Alex, Riley Kate, Mallory, Hunter Cardwell of Granite Falls, Madilyn Jean and Owen Parrish of Matthews; her siblings' children, Chuck Chapman (Kristi) of Hickory, Mark Gilleland (Kim) of Marietta, GA and Kristy Chapman Hollifield (Chris) of Granite Falls; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Cole Chapman, Sarah Hollifield, Logan and Avery Gilleland.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (547 6th St NW, Hickory, NC 28601). Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in honor of Jean Setzer to Carolina Caring (Hospice), Historical Association of Catawba County, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Organ Fund, and Hart's Square. Keep Nancy Jean's legacy alive by donating to a charity in need.
