She was predeceased by : her parents, Lillie Brown Canipe and Elbert Theodore Canipe; her husband Jimmy Martin; her son Michael Martin; her siblings, Wayne Canipe (Cathy) and Peggy Townsend (Andrew); her nephew Lewis Townsend; her niece Mary Lou Townsend; and her daughter Donna Turnmyre (Ken) of Hickory.

She is survived by : her sister-in-law Betty Martin (Leonard); her grandchildren, Michael Turnmyre (Nicole), Nicole Kloss (Mike), Anne Moser (Trey) and Sydney Osborne (Tom); and her great grandchildren, Luke Moser, Dylan Moser, Mason Moser, Mady Turnmyre, Katy Turnmyre, Kiersten Osborne, Bryce Osborne and Carson Kloss.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Bass-Smith Funeral Home & Crematory (334 2nd St NW, Hickory, NC 28601). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel (334 2nd St NW, Hickory, NC 28601).
