He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Paton and Carol Paton. He is survived by: his wife Maryellen Paton of Conover; his daughters, Kimberly Vegter (Sam) of Hickory and Megan Evans (Chad) of Statesville; and his grandchildren, Lucy, Abby Vegter, Felix and Zachary Evans.
