We are sad to announce that on February 10, 2024, at the age of 94, Ruby Farris Whitener of Hickory, North Carolina, born in Catawba, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Julius Farris and Frances Farris; her husband William Robert Whitener Sr.; her sons, Marcus "Mark" Whitener, James "Jimmy" Whitener, Roger Whitener, Tommy Whitener and Wayne Whitener; her siblings, Louise Farris, Jane Lippard, Rebecca "Becky" Myers and Owen Farris; and her daughter-in-law Kathy K. Whitener.

She is survived by: her sons, Douglas "Doug" Whitener and William R. "Bobby" Whitener Jr. (Marlene); her grandchildren, Todd William Whitener, Karla Adale Whitener, Mandy Whitener Greene (Jason), Brian Keith Whitener (Sarah), Robbie James Whitener (Heather), Kevin Eric Whitener (Gwen) and Robert Wayne Whitener; and her daughters-in-law, Mary B. Whitener and Donna B. Whitener. She is also survived by four great grandchildren.
