She was predeceased by: her parents, Nelson McLaughlin and Gertrude McLaughlin; her husband Dr. James Poovey; and her stepson Major James Poovey, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Stephen Southard (Bonnie) of Hickory and Stacy Southard (David) of Asheville; her siblings, Cynthia McLaughlin of Raleigh and Greg McLaughlin (Kim) of Hickory; her grandsons, Jackson Southard (Elysha) and Cole Southard; and her stepchildren, Colonel Wade Poovey (Kelly), Kathy Poovey, Shannon Renard (Rick) and Niki Maynor (Chad).
