It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sherman Preston Carpenter of Hickory, North Carolina, who passed away on April 15, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Carpenter and Viola Carpenter; and his sisters, Betty Carpenter Lutz and Thelma Carpenter Waters. He is survived by: his wife Judy Lutz Carpenter; his sons, Scott Carpenter (Apryl) of Goldsboro and Kevin Carpenter (Lynne) of Conover; his grandchildren, Ryan Carpenter (Goldsboro), Dalton Carpenter (Conover), Keeley Carpenter (Wilmington) and David Carpenter (Conover); and his sister Geraldine Carpenter Reed. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
