She was predeceased by: her parent Jessie Edna Howard Griffin; her husband Tommie S. Simpson, Sr.; her sons, Tommie S. Simpson, Jr. and Howard Lindsay Simpson; and her sister Joyce Michael.
She is survived by: her children, Robert Clifton Simpson of Hickory, NC and Meredith Lee Simpson Conrad (Rob) of Conover, NC; her daughters-in-law, Cheryl Simpson Lingerfelt of Hickory, NC and Tina Smith Simpson of Hickory, NC; her grandchildren, Ashley Daigler (Brian), Trey Simpson (Sadie), Cherish Robinson (Steve), John Simpson (Julie), Natalie Bowman (Corey), Michelle Simpson, Will Conrad (Nikki) and Peter Conrad (Jamison); and her sibling's children, Kathy Barton of Beaufort, SC and Randy Michael. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
