It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verlena Powers McClellan of Hickory, North Carolina, born in Wise, Virginia, who passed away on July 24, 2022, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Verlah M. Powers and Worley T. Powers; her husband Charles E. McClellan; her son James McClellan; her siblings, Jerry, Harold, Jimmy Powers and Sarah Markland; and her great grandchild Elaine M. Bender.
She is survived by: her son Rev. David McClellan (Glenda Young); her grandchildren, David C. McClellan (Jawaher), Brian E. McClellan (Carrie) and Jennifer M. Bender (Shane); her great grandchildren, Ryan C. McClellan (Briauna), Wesley C. McClellan, Alexa C. McClellan, Allison V. McClellan, Lindsey McClellan, Isaac McClellan, Sabrina Bender, Darcy Bender and Davison Bender; and her siblings, Curtis Powers, Allene Richardson and Nancy Ketron. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
