He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Coy Kiser and Beda Flo Rudisill Kiser; his wife Rebecca Ann Eller Kiser; his son Jimmy Ray Kiser; his siblings, Kay Hoyle, Jesse Houston and Dale Kiser; and his son-in-law Alan Stamey.

He is survived by: his children, Gary Kiser (Tina Kiser) and Louann Stamey (Late); his grandchildren, Nathan Kiser (Jennifer Kiser), Jonathan Stamey (Tara Mills), Kristy Kiser, Joshua Stamey (Shana Stamey) and Brittney Stamey; and his stepgranddaughter Kim Ford. He is also survived by great grandchildren, as well as many brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring of Newton in Vernon's name.
