It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virgil Guy Martin (Hickory, North Carolina), who passed away on December 22, 2022, at the age of 101, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, H. Frank Martin and Bessie Reep Martin; his siblings, Ernest, Everett, Homer, Ira, Paul, Kenneth, Ollie Martin Stephens, Bertha Martin Bolch, Geneva Martin Gause and Katherine Martin Yount; his former wife Vivian Ogle Martin; and his son Roger Dale Martin.
He is survived by: his daughter Penny G. Martin; his daughter-in-law Rebekah Sigmon Martin; his nephew Jack Martin; his great-uncle Ernest; his uncle Bill Martin; his cousin Ira; his cousin Vertus Ogle; his nieces, Patricia Martin Stone, Emily Martin Frye, Drenda Yount Moore, Neda Yount Deal, Teresa Martin Hammer, Pamela Ogle, Holly Ogle, Joyce Stephens Bolton and Jane Stephens Beckom; and also Vertus Smith.
