It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter Carl Cornwell (Hickory, North Carolina), who passed away on April 17, 2020, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Fon Falkner Cornwell; his children, Wes Cornwell (Tanya) of Fleetwood, NC, Libby Bishop (Brian) of Atlanta, GA, Cathy Keller (Jeff) of Hickory and Nancy Gaines (Tim) of Hickory; and his sister Betty C. Schrum of Lincolnton, NC. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Due to the restrictions imposed by the Corona Virus, the family has decided to postpone services for Walt until his family, friends, coaches, players and students can all be together to celebrate his life.
