He is survived by: his wife Judy Hartsoe; his children, Jennifer Mckenzie (Billy) of Midland, Joshua Alexander (Stephenie) of Catawba, SC, Crystal Smolter (Rusty) of Rogersville and Wayne Herman of Hickory; his grandchildren, Haley Pardon, Hunter Mckenzie, Julia Mckenzie, Emily Alexander, Shanna Herman, Melanie Gibson, Andrew Smolter, Ashley Allen and Brittney Yarbrough; and his great grandchildren, Oliver Hartleb, Liam Hartleb, Opal Gibson and Theodore Mckenzie.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Mackie Funeral Service (35 Duke St, Granite Falls, NC 28630).
