He was predeceased by: his parents, Leck Gwaltney and Rose Lee Bunton Gwaltney; and his siblings, Mary Tilley, Lexine Elliott, Dale Gwaltney and Bobby Gwaltney.
He is survived by: his wife Dianne Prichard Gwaltney; his daughters, Sonya Elder (Rickey) of Hiddenite and Angie Gwaltney of Hiddenite; his grandchildren, William Perry Randlett, Amber Davis (Josh), Tonya Elder (Chris), Rylee Watts (Will) and Lily Elder; his great grandchild Caroline Davis; his siblings, Carol Bumgarner (Lindsey), Glynn Gwaltney of Hiddenite and Jack Gwaltney (Merilee) of Hiddenite; his sister-in-law Paulette Gwaltney; and his close friends, Andy Barnes and Douglas "Hunch" Johnson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:45 PM at the Pilgrim Baptist Church (965 Pilgrim Church Rd, Hiddenite, NC 28636). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
