He was predeceased by: his parents, William C. Johnson and Connie Etta Bowman Johnson; his wife Betty Ann Kepley Johnson; and his sister Betty Mae Nance. He is survived by: his children, Karen Elizabeth Johnson Staley (Robert) of Loris, SC and William Mark Johnson (Tracie) of Stoneville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association at 4615 Dundas Dr. Suite 103 Greensboro, NC 27407.
