She was predeceased by: her parents, S. B. Smarr and Iola Howze Smarr; and her brothers, David, Raymond, John, Robert Howze, Charlie Jr., Eric Smarr, James and William Berry.
She is survived by: her daughter Chemise Smarr; her grandchildren, Kiera Dates, Tzion Settle, Arturo Settle II and Keziah Settle; her great grandchild Josiah Taylor; her siblings, Bobby Berry (Esther), Samuel Smarr and Barbara Brevard; her cousin Tishe McGill (Alisha Swepson); and her close friends, Hoyte Phifer, David Williams and Clarence Davis. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
