He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Gibbons and Trudy Tilley Gibbons; his wife Betty Bodenhamer Gibbons; and his siblings, Bulah Gibbons, Nellie Miller, Betty Weavil, Sue Smith, Jean Gupton, Elbert and Ronald Gibbons.

He is survived by: his children, Randy Gibbons (Deborah) and Lisa Crotts (Dwight); his grandchildren, Chelsea Cline (Matthew), Molly Jackson (Joshua), Maddy Gaudet (Peyton) of Lestard, Erin Fordham (James) and Carrie Gallo (Nicholas); and his great grandchildren, Leighton, Hayes Cline, Rowan-Kate, Callan and Noa Fordham.
