She was predeceased by : her parents, Jacob A. Reece and Cassie Wyre Reece; her husband Ernest G. Newton, Sr.; and her siblings, Jacob Reece, Jr., Lois Peterson, Virgie Kennedy, Rachel Craven and Dorothea Bodenheimer.

She is survived by : her children, Ernest "Ernie" Newton, Jr. (Penny) of Winston-Salem and Kay Hunt (Rick) of High Point; her sister Maybeth Thomas; her grandchildren, Christy Palmer (Donald), Bradley Hunt (Carrie), Scott Newton (Dacia) and Marcy Newton; and her great grandchildren, Logan Palmer, Madison Carroll (Nolan), Jackson Palmer, Grady Newton, Emery Newton, Lincoln Newton, Ezra Newton, Reece Hart, Cooper Hunt and Sutton Hunt.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 28th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Wright Chapel, High Point (1720 Westchester Dr, High Point, NC 27262).
