He was predeceased by: his parents, P. G. Bumgarner and Mae Bumgarner; and his sister Dorothy Barnhill. He is survived by: his wife Jean Armfield Bumgarner; his sons, Tim Bumgarner (Barbara) of Durham and Bill Bumgarner (Molly) of High Point; his grandchildren, Robert Bumgarner (Sara Kate) of Marietta, GA, Virginia Finlayson (Brian) of Wilmington, NC, Katie Pullen (Dan) of Garner, NC and Sarah Dover (Ryan) of Lexington, SC; his great grandchildren, Liddy Bumgarner, Becca Bumgarner, Wallace Pullen, Millie Pullen and Timmy Dover; and his siblings, Nancy Haynes and John Bumgarner.
