She was predeceased by: her father William "Bill" Hurt Smith Sr.; her brother William "Billy" Hurt Smith Jr.; and her nephew Matthew Smith. She is survived by: her husband Hugh Nichols; her children, Dow Nichols (Barbara) of Walkertown, NC, Tim Nichols (Sue) of Lake Norman and Traci Nichols Wood (Paul) of High Point, NC; her grandchildren, Aaron Nichols (Valerie), Allen Wood (Hailey), Phillip Wood (Sydney), Isabelle Nichols, Will Wood and Nick Wood; her great grandchildren, Aubrey Wood, Ruby Wood and Brynlee Wood; her sister-in-law Hiroko Smith; her nephew Jon-Hurt Smith (Hope); and her great-nephew Davis Smith. She is also survived by cousins and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials may be given to Hospice of the Piedmont at 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
