She was predeceased by: her parent Charlie Mackie; her husband Cornell York; her sons, John Leon and Thaddeus York; her grandson Cedric York; and her siblings, Elizabeth Moore, Anne McCullough, Louise Evangelist, Charlie, James and Kelly Mackie.

She is survived by: her children, Dorothy Wall (Lafayette), Martha, Glenda York, Vincent (Barbara) and Robert York (Kim); her stepdaughter Bessie Davis (Harold); her daughter Melodie Smith-Golden; her daughters-in-law, Betty and Onnie Faye York; her siblings, Maggie Bullard, Sam Mackie (Jean), Lee Mackie (Shirley), Ronnie Mackie and Bernise Williams (Mary); her siblings-in-law, Kizzida Pankey, Gerona Mae Dockery (Alexander), Louis McCullough, Johnny Moses and George Steele; and her nieces, Betty Robinson and Elizabeth Gibson. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
