She was predeceased by: her parents, Cletus Cooper and Dot Thomas Cooper; her husband J. C. Barger; her son Michael Barger; her granddaughter Jamey Dunlap; her great grandchildren, Lindsey Rae Watson and Austin Daniel Watson; and her sister Barbara Coffey.

She is survived by: her daughter Donna McArthur; her sister Donise Tucker; her grandchildren, Robin Emmons (Lee), Mandy McCall (Ryan) and Michael Barger, Jr. (Holly); her great grandchildren, Courtney Watson (Chase), Hayden McCall and Colton McCall; her daughter-in-law Karen Barger; and her close friend Lavada Fivecoat. She is also survived by her nephew and several nieces.

Memorials in Geraldine's memory may be made to the Hospice of Randolph County, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
