He is survived by: his wife Rebecca "Becky" Anne Mills Gibbons of Randleman; his sons, Christopher Ryan Gibbons (Ashley) of Trinity and David Scott Gibbons (Eleanore) of High Point; his grandchildren, Mackenzie Gibbons of Greensboro, Isabella Gibbons of High Point and Jacqueline Gibbons of High Point; his stepgranddaughter Adessa Robbins of Cullowhee; his siblings, Kathy Edwards of High Point and Jeffrey P. Gibbons (Susan) of Winston-Salem; his niece Sarah Bundy (Scott) of High Point; his nephew Joshua Edwards (Lisa) of Hawaii; his stepsisters, Sheila Latta (Keith) of Liberty and Rhonda Overman (Matthew) of Gibsonville; and his stepnephews, Branden, Andrew Overman, Jacob and Justin Latta of Liberty.
