He was predeceased by: his parents, James McCowen, Jr. and Alma Vissage McCowen; and his sister Joyce McCowen Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Lasch McCowen; his children, James Clifford McCowen, IV (Cristie) of Griffin, GA, Melissa McCowen Bell of Franklin and Deborah Lasek (Leonard) of Oak Island; his grandson Alex Lasek (Virginia); and his daughter Emily Lasek.
