He was predeceased by: his parents, Murriel Tinch and Thelma Richmond Tinch; and his brother Kenneth Tinch. He is survived by: his wife Lucille Hackney Tinch; his children, Angela "Renee" Sheppard (Mark), Matthew Thomas and Duane Thomas (Anna); his grandchildren, Larry Franklin Holland, III, Jackson Thomas Tinch and Eleanor Laura Tinch; and his brothers, Darrel Tinch and Morris L. Tinch.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the VA.
