She was predeceased by: her parents, George Elvert Atkins and Elrice McBride Atkins. She is survived by: her husband David Bodenheimer; her children, Chad Bodenheimer (Marti) of Winston-Salem and Jennifer Fordahl of Greensboro; her siblings, Ronnie Atkins (Debbie) of Stokesdale and Naomi King (Ray) of Summerfield; and her grandchildren, Macy Bodenheimer, Emmy Bodenheimer, Charley Bodenheimer, Finn Bodenheimer and Lilly Fordahl.
