She was predeceased by: her parents, L. R. Mabe and Mattie Whitten Mabe; her son Ralph Phillip Smith, Jr.; her siblings, Elzie Mabe, Divers Mabe, Vance Mabe, Buddy Mabe, Margie Roberts, Nancy Campbell and Treva Mabe; and her son-in-law Travis Chadwick.

She is survived by: her children, Darlene Chadwick of High Point, NC and Vance Suits (Elizabeth) of Monroe, NC; and her sister Mattie Fleming of Liberty, NC. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
