He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Ernest Shinn and Elizabeth Howard Shinn. He is survived by: his wife Nora Sue Swigart Shinn; his brother Harold Shinn (Claudia); his niece Hallie Long (Lance); and his nephew Andy Shinn (Sheila).
