He was predeceased by: his parents, Dempie Brown and J. W. Tate; his son Jeff Tate; his brother Donald Tate; and his pets, Annie and Denver.
He is survived by: his close friend Brenda Carroll; his daughter Theresa Dabbs (Randy Dabbs); his daughter-in-law Dee Andrews-Tate; and his grandchildren, Bobby Wilson and Katie Wilson.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Fellowship Hall at Jamestown Presbyterian Church (1804 Guilford College Rd, Jamestown, NC 27282).
