He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Leroy Johnson and Gladys Estelle Peck Johnson; his wife Mary Anna Johnson; his brother Roger Johnson; his sister-in-law Marilyn Johnson; his children, Richard Johson, Jr. (Jan) of High Point and Anna Marion Matteo (Dan) of Virginia Beach; his grandchildren, Leigh Anna Johnson Marbert (Bryan), Richard Johnson, III (Whitney), Meredith Matteo Meismer (Steven) and John Michael Matteo (Alex); and his stepgrandson James Whitley, Jr. (Cassidy).
He is survived by: his cousins, Donald Johnstone Peck and Jan Margolis; and his nieces, Marcia Johnson and Christina Swaak.
