He was predeceased by: his parents, Avery William Apple and Sarah Frances Weaver; his grandparents, Avery Albert Apple, Stella Ednora Apple, Hubert Waldo Weaver, Martin Luther Hall and Sarah Elizabeth Weaver; and his grandson Chase Richard Bown.
He is survived by: his spouse Jean McDonald; his daughters, Danielle Stringer (Garrett) of Raleigh, Amber Caviness (Chad) of Climax and Courtney Bown (Jim) of Asheboro; his grandchildren, Caleb Robert Apple, Sara Evelyn Bown, Griffin Raymond Stringer and Luke Edward Caviness; his siblings, Kent Apple (Claudia) of Greensboro, Cindy Morgan of Whitsett and Sally Hodges (Darrell) of Whitsett; and his nephew David Bumgarner of Palm Coast, FL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
